NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special joint meeting of the Pasadena City Council
and the Pasadena Board of Education will be held on Monday, June 5, 2006, at the Pasadena
Conference Center, Rooms 103, 104, and 105, 300 East Green Street, Pasadena. The special
meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the following items:

1. AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE PASADENA
UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE JOINT USE OF MADISON SCHOOL PLAYGROUND
USE AND PARK IMPROVEMENTS
Recommendation of City Manager and Superintendent of Schools: It is recommended that the
City Council and the Board of Education authorize the City Manager and the Superintendent of
Schools to execute an agreement for the joint use of Madison School Playground Use and Park
Improvements.

2. AGREEMENT WITH THE PASADENA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR EMERGENCY
TRANSPORTATION SERVICES
Recommendation of City Manager and Superintendent of Schools:
It is recommended that the City Council and the Board of Education authorize the City Manager
and the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement for emergency transportation services
consistent with the terms and conditions discussed in the agenda report.

3. AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PASADENA AND THE PASADENA UNIFIED SCHOOL
DISTRICT FOR UTILIZATION OF CITY STAFF FOR REAL ESTATE SERVICES
Recommendation of City Manager and Superintendent of Schools: It is recommended that the City
Council and the Board of Education take the following actions:
(1) Approve the utilization of Pasadena City staff real estate services for an hourly amount of $85.00
per hour on an as needed basis; and
(2) Authorize the City Manager and Superintendent of Schools to execute an agreement to initiate
these real estate services.

4. CONCEPT APPROVAL OF THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE PASADENA HIGH SCHOOL
DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP PLAN
Recommendation of City Manager and Superintendent of Schools: It is recommended that the City
Council and the Board of Education hereby approve, in concept, the goals and objectives of the
Pasadena High School Drop-off and Pick-up Plan, attached as Exhibit "A" of the agenda report, and
direct their respective staffs to execute a formal agreement for meeting those goals and objectives,
consistent with applicable legal requirements, to undertake any and all required studies, and to return
to the respective governing bodies for any further required consideration and approval.

5. AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER INTO A JOINT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PASADENA
AND THE PASADENA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR USE OF TENNIS COURTS AT JOHN MUIR
HIGH SCHOOL
Recommendation of City Manager and Superintendent of Schools: It is recommended that the City
Council and the Board of Education authorize the City Manager and the Superintendent of Schools to
execute a joint agreement for the use of 10 tennis courts at John Muir High School that will return the
courts to good condition, provide a quality, affordable youth tennis program serving Muir students, and,
as available, expand the supply of tennis courts open to public use during non-school daytime court
operating hours.

6. AGREEMENT BETWEEN PASADENA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE CITY OF PASADENA
REGARDING THE PERFORMANCE BY PUSD OF PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS
FOR CITY JOB APPLICANTS
Recommendation of City Manager and Superintendent of Schools: It is recommended that the City
Council and the Board of Education authorize the City Manager and Superintendent of Schools to enter
into an annual agreement wherein Pasadena Unified School District medical staff will perform
pre-employment medical examinations for City of Pasadena job applicants.

7. DIRECT THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 4.04 OF THE
PASADENA MUNICIPAL CODE TO MODIFY THE PROCESS OF TRANSFERRING CITY SURPLUS
PROPERTY TO THE PASADENA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THAT THE PASADENA
UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION CONFIRM THE INTENT OF THE DISTRICT IN
RECEIVING THE SURPLUS PROPERTY FROM THE CITY.
Recommendation of City Manager and Superintendent of Schools:
(1) The City Council direct the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance amending Chapter 4.04 of the
Pasadena Municipal Code to give the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) first priority in
receiving City surplus property; and
(2) The PUSD Board of Education confirm the interest of the District in receiving the surplus property
from the City.

8. REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF POLICING SERVICES PLAN FOR PUSD CAMPUSES WITHIN CITY OF
PASADENA BOUNDARIES

9. AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PASADENA AND
PASADENA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (PUSD) FOR GRAFFITI REMOVAL ASSISTANCE
Recommendation of City Manager and Superintendent of Schools: It is recommended that the City
Council and the Board of Education take the following actions:
(1) Approve the utilization of City graffiti removal services to PUSD for an hourly amount of $26.16
with a two hour minimum on an as needed basis; and
(2) Authorize the City Manager and Superintendent of Schools to execute an agreement to initiate
this City graffiti removal assistance.

10. APPROVAL OF THE JOINT WATER EDUCATION PROGRAM BETWEEN THE CITY OF PASADENA
AND PASADENA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (PUSD)
Recommendation of City Manager and Superintendent of Schools: It is recommended that the City
Council and the Board of Education approve implementation of the water education programs offered
by Metropolitan Water District (MWD) and supplemented through Pasadena’s Water and Power
Department.
