AND THE PASADENA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOARD OF EDUCATION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special joint meeting of the Pasadena City Council and the Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at City Hall, Council Chamber, 100 North Garfield Avenue, Room S249, Pasadena. The special joint meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the following items:

D. AMENDMENT TO THE JOINT USE FACILITIES AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY
OF PASADENA AND THE PASADENA UNIFIED
SCHOOL DISTRICT *
Recommendation: It is
recommended that the City Council and the Board of Education:
(1) Find that the action proposed in
the agenda report is exempt from the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
pursuant to State CEQA Guidelines Sections 15301
(existing facilities) and 15323
(normal operations of facilities for public gatherings); and
(2) Approve an amendment to the Joint
Use Facilities Agreement between the City of
Pasadena and the Pasadena Unified
School District that extends the term of the existing
Joint Use Facilities Agreement fifty (50)
years and establishes a mechanism for the further
development of joint use facilities.

E. APPROVAL OF ADDENDUM NO. 1 TO THE JOINT USE FACILITIES
AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF PASADENA AND THE
PASADENA UNIFIED SCHOOL
DISTRICT FOR JOINT USE OF PASADENA HIGH
SCHOOL SOFTBALL FIELD *
Recommendation: It is
recommended that the City Council and the Board of Education:
(1) Find that the action proposed in the
agenda report (installing lights on an existing softball
field) is not yet subject to environmental
review pursuant to the California Environmental
Quality Act (CEQA) because the project has
yet to be designed to the level of detail that
would allow for meaningful environmental
review. The actions proposed in the agenda report
include undertaking environmental review
when the design has progressed further; and
(2) Authorize the City Manager and the
Superintendent of Schools to execute Addendum No.
1 (which is attached to the agenda report
in substantial final form) to the Joint Use Facilities
Agreement for joint use of Pasadena High
School softball field, provided the following
conditions are met:
(a) The
project has been reviewed pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act
(CEQA); and
(b) The City
has successfully obtained the required Conditional Use Permit.
It is recommended
that the City Council appropriate $400,000 from the General Fund
Reserve for Key Projects and Initiatives to
the non-departmental portion of the Fiscal Year
2010 operating budget.
