Commander
Eric R. Mills
Commander Eric Mills is a
fourth generation Californian. He has lived in Pasadena since 1964,
attending Pasadena public schools. Commander Mills graduated from POST in
2008. His career spans 33+ years with the Pasadena Police Department.
Eric Mills has risen through the ranks, starting as a Police Cadet in 1976.
As a Police Officer, he was involved as a Field Training Officer, and as a
School Resource Officer, assigned to Marshall Fundamental High School. Eric
Mills was promoted to an Agent and worked patrol as a burglary detective. He
graduated from Gormac Polygraph School in Arcadia, adding to his technical
skills. As a Sergeant, Eric helped to establish the Crime Analysis Unit,
Worked in Community Relations during the development of the Villa Parke
Community Policing Project, and supervised the Special Enforcement Section.
Eric was promoted to Lieutenant in 2000. He was again assigned to the
Special Enforcement Section. As a Lieutenant, Eric transferred to the
Traffic Section where he wrote the “Ask the Traffic Cop” column for the
Pasadena Star-News for almost three years. Afterwards, Eric was appointed to
Technical Services Section where he became the Project Manager for the
Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System.
Eric Mills is currently assigned as the Commander for the Strategic Services
Division, which includes the Communication Section, Jail Section, Property
Section, Records Section and the Technical Services Section. Commander Mills
is a Board Member for the Pasadena Mental Health Center, and assists the
Pasadena Unified School District as a Member with the Partners in Education
Advisory Board, and as an active contributor to their Information Technology
Work Group.
Commander Mills and his wife, Carol, have been married for twenty-eight
years. They have three children; Ian, Seth and Shelby.
