Christopher O. Vicino

Chief Christopher O. Vicino was born in Los Angeles and grew up in
the San Gabriel Valley. He attended Claremont Men’s College, earning
a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Political Science. He
graduated from the POST Command College in November 2002 and was the
recipient of the Hank E. Koehn award as the most inspirational
student of his class. In 2004, he received a scholarship from the
Department of Homeland Security to attend the Naval Postgraduate
School, graduating in March of 2006 with a Master of Arts degree in
Homeland Security and Defense. He is 47 years old and a 24-year
veteran of law enforcement.
Chief Vicino has spent his entire career with the Pasadena Police
Department, working his way up the ranks in a variety of
assignments. In 2008, he was the Acting Chief of Police for
approximately 10 months. As the deputy chief, he is charged with
managing all aspects of the police department’s operations.
In 2000, Chief Vicino received the Chief’s Award for Excellence for
his oversight of the 1999 California Police Summer Games.
Chief Vicino has been an adjunct professor at Pasadena City College
since 1999 and he is currently a board member of the Pasadena
Optimist Club. He is a member of the California Police Chief’s
Association, Police Executive Research Forum, and International
Association of Chief’s of Police. He represents the City of Pasadena
on the Governance Board of the Interagency Communications
Interoperability System (ICIS), a regional radio project. He served
Villa Esperanza Services, a Pasadena based non-profit organization
for the developmentally disabled, as an executive board member from
1999 to 2006.
Chief Vicino and his wife, Carla, have been married for 23 years.
They have two children, Danielle and Dominic. |
