funded, $1.3 million project for Concept Plan and Design Documents for the following streetscape
improvements in the Playhouse District:
pedestrian lighting; new and infill street trees and tree grates;
decorative benches and trash receptacles; District signage and banner
program; rehabilitation of the historic Pasadena Playhouse sign.

Approvals |
City/PCDC approved Concept Plan on April 15, 1996. Design
Development Plans approved on November 18, 1996. Final
Arts Plan approved for Phase I on September 10, 2003.
Public Art approved by City Council on January 12, 2004.

Phase I project
improvements completed in 2004 except installation of remaining
Palm trees on Colorado Boulevard, which will be completed with
Phase II project improvements. Public Art installations
completed in two phases in 2005-2006
Phase II: Contract
for MTA $1.027 million TEA-21 Grant to fund Phase II
improvements to be initiated in Fiscal Year 2007 along with PCDC
match of $290,000.
Phase II engineering
design currently underway with completion expected in December
2007. Construction of Phase II improvements including lighting,
tree installations and other project amenities to be initiated
in 2008
