There are two displays hanging from the ceiling and two NASA rockets on the ground lifting off to outer space. The name of the two hanging displays are “Discover your 8th Wonder of the World with Frommers” and “Frommer’s Takes You Out of this World!”

Library staff used several methods to actively promote the Frommer’s 2007 Library Display Contest as well as the library’s Frommer’s collection, including special library programs and an online survey asking system-wide library employees to describe what their 8th Wonder of the World would look like.

Promoted the Frommer’s website: We designed a Powerpoint presentation titled, Frommer’s of the Future and featured the slide show in our Technology Learning Center lab. The slide show culminated in a link which directed users to the Frommer’s homepage.

“Frommer’s Takes You Out of This World” has replicas of the planets plus an additional planet (Arthur’s Colossal Cosmos) which is bright silver in color with a picture of Arthur Frommer’s face beaming down.

We created an eco-friendly display of items found in nature—seashells and stones—along with a handmade turtle created with seashells found on the beaches of Hawaii. Lights surround the exhibit of covers, giving it a marquee effect.

Those personal visions of library employees are depicted on the mock Frommer’s covers displayed on a special shelf in the Adult section of the library.
