Three Juveniles Arrested for Setting Fire

PASADENA, CA - On Friday, July 18, 2008 shortly before 3:00 p.m. Pasadena Police responded to a call from a resident that three males set fire to the mountain behind homes on the hillside near the Pasadena-Sierra Madre border. Pasadena Officers responded to the area quickly to both assess danger to residents and to locate the perpetrators. With the assistance of our helicopter, officers were able to locate and detain three juveniles.

Over 100 firefighters battled the foothill fire while over 25 law enforcement personnel provided traffic control and completed investigative actions.

It appears that the fire was started by the juveniles when they lit fireworks. Five acres burned. No structures were damaged however; one firefighter was injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The firefighter was later released. The juvenile were arrested for setting fire to forest lands.

Pasadena Police Department Red Light Enforcement Program

Pasadena, CA - The

Pasadena Police Department will be conducting a Red Light Enforcement Program on Friday, July 11, 2008.  This enforcement program will be deployed throughout the

Pasadena
area.  The hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 

This red light program is an effective tool for achieving the Pasadena Police Department’s goal of reducing the number of traffic collisions resulting from red light violations.  These programs are also designed to educate the public in regards to safer driving habits. 

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Kidnapping for the Purpose of Child Molest

PASADENA, CA – Pasadena Police arrested a suspect for P.C. 209(b)(1) after he abducted a five-year-old  child from in front of his apartment in the 2000 block of N. Fair Oaks Ave.  Shortly before noon today the victim’s mother observed the suspect grab the child by her shoulders and start to pull her into the front door of his apartment.  The mother immediately notified her brothers and they ran to the suspect’s residence.  The suspect saw them and fled from the residence.  The brothers gave chase while the mother notified Pasadena police.  The suspect was located in the 1800 block of N. Raymond Ave. and taken into custody by Pasadena officers without incident. 

Arrested was: Herrera, Bryon, MH-39, Pasadena resident.  Bail is set at $1,000,000 with an expected arraignment date of Thursday, July 3.
