The Pasadena Police Department will be conducting a Red Light Enforcement Detail on Monday, June 30, 2008.

This enforcement detail will be deployed throughout the Pasadena area.  The hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The program is an effective tool for achieving the Pasadena Police Department’s goal of reducing the number of traffic collisions resulting from red light violations.  These programs also educate the public in regards to safer driving habits.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Pasadena Police Department will be conducting an Aggressive Driver Detail on Friday, June 27, 2008.

This enforcement detail will be deployed in the City of Pasadena. The hours of operation are from 7:00 am – 2:00 pm.

The program is an effective tool for achieving the Pasadena Police Department’s goal of reducing the number of traffic collisions resulting from speeding, red light, and stop sign violations. These programs also educate the public in regards to safer driving habits.

On June 13, 2008 between 3:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. a prostitution sting took place along East Colorado Boulevard. It was a joint investigation between the Pasadena Police Department and San Marino Police Department. Undercover decoy officers were deployed posing as prostitutes. The operation resulted in the arrest of sixteen male adults and three female adults.

Residents have complained about the decrease in the quality of life and local businesses cite the negative economic impacts that come with this type of activity. These types of stings are designed to address those complaints and are conducted on a random basis throughout the city.

The stings focus on male and female participants. The message is, if you come to Pasadena to commit an act of prostitution, you will likely get caught and arrested. The maximum penalty for this offense is 6 months incarceration and $500 in fines. Arrestees also must attend AIDS awareness classes and are tested for the presence of HIV.

Since January 2008, 95 people have been arrested for prostitution or prostitution related crimes in Pasadena. The majority of those arrests have occurred on east Colorado Boulevard.
