Pasadena, CA - The Pasadena Police Department will conduct a Street Racing Detail on Friday, February 29, 2008.  The hours of operation for this detail will be from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

The program is an effective tool for achieving the law enforcement’s goal of reducing the number of traffic collisions resulting from vehicles equipped /or engaged in street racing.  Vehicles will be inspected in order to ascertain if they are equipped with illegal motors, exhaust or other systems which are not permitted by the State of California.  These types of programs are also designed to educate the public regarding safer driving habits.

“Street racing is a problem, to some extent, in every community,” says Acting Chief Christopher Vicino.  “While racing in not typical in Pasadena during the hours this operation will be conducted, it is our hope to dissuade later racing activity by getting some of the illegal racing cars off of city streets.  The ticket we write today may save a life tomorrow.”
